In this class, I would like to share the whole process of my creative work. Before creating an imaginative and dreamlike illustration, thoughts and creative processes precede it. Everyone gathers a treasure of experiences and perceptions inside themselves. You just have to bring it to the surface. I will give you advice on how to find and package your intention. With exercises and tips to raise your own voice and put it into an illustration.
In this class, I will be highlighting the watercolor technique. I like watercolors because of their transparency and the surprises that arise. You can add colored pencils, fine liners, or wax crayons to give the painting texture where needed. Explore the possibilities, experiment, and have fun. Connect what you have learned with all kinds of inspirations. Have an open eye for the things that uplift you and help your illustration to more liveliness.
Seeing the world through the eyes of children leads us to new ways. A magical world, full of fantasy and boundlessness. We can find it in fairytales, but also in everyday life with children. Here you can imagine whatever you want. In this class, I would like to make you dream again. Let your imagination create ideas with ease and fun. I will accompany you on your search and show you the way from an idea to a fairytale illustration.
We often have our favorite colors or just love black and white. Some like it very colorful or rich in contrast. I think it's a question of taste and what should be expressed. I tend to use a harmonious color tone for my illustrations. Here I usually work with only one or two color tones and their gradations. Or I mix the tones with a muted color and regulate the intensity down to create a basic mood again. Let me know how you work with colors and learn from each other.
Today I would like to leave you with a few thoughts. Sometimes our dreams feel unattainable, so we don't even try to realize them. I can only encourage you to move forward in small steps, to love the process, and become your best friend. Because once you've reached your goal, there's already a new one waiting there :-)
